The Society of Arts was involved in developing the labour market agenda for the cultural and creative sector from the very start of this initiative. The agenda is now entering a new phase with the founding of the ACCT Platform. One component of the agenda (but not the only one) was the establishment of the Fair Practice Code.

The code sets out a number of principles meant to encourage good employer and employee practices. It serves as an instrument for structuring and clarifying the conversation between contractor and maker. The code is based on five foundations: solidarity, transparency, sustainability, diversity and trust.

Because the Society of Arts believes that it should ‘practice what you preach’, it continuously examines its own organisation with a critical eye.

The Society of Arts adheres to the Academy’s code of conduct for boards, juries and committees that assess and decide on the award of prizes, memberships and funding. The purpose of the code is to ensure transparency and to avoid any semblance of a conflict of interests.
