Every year, the Society of Arts selects new members based on demonstrable artistic achievements. Members of the Society of Arts are artists who are driven by their curiosity and engagement with society.
The Society is the ideal place to debate the importance of art for society. The Society’s aim is to interpret the voice of the arts in Dutch society and to foster interaction between the sciences and the arts.
Membership of the Society of Arts is for life. In 2024, the membership consisted of 86 individuals working in the broad field of the arts. New members are selected every year from submitted nominations.
New members in 2025
Who is eligible to submit nominations?
There are no eligibility requirements in this round. Anyone may submit a nomination. Persons submitting names may nominate a maximum of two candidates. Self-nominations will be disregarded. Nominations are confidential. Do not notify the candidate of your intentions, in other words.
Submitting nominations
The nomination round for new members to be appointed in 2025 is open from 8 July to 15 September 2024.
Follow-up procedure
The Society of Arts New Members Committee assesses the nominations and compiles a shortlist for the Board of the Society of Arts and the Academy Board. The new members will be announced in February 2025 at the latest.
