European Alliance of Academies

At the invitation of the Akademie der Künste in Berlin, the Society of Arts joined the European Alliance of Academies in 2020. Germany’s Akademie der Künste unites representatives of European art academies and cultural institutions in defence of artistic freedom and in response to political constraints imposed on that freedom. 

Manifesto

Alliance members published a manifesto on 10 October outlining future courses of action in support of an open and inclusive Europe. 

International network  

The art world is international in the extreme. Many members of the Society of Arts live and work regularly outside the Netherlands or come from abroad. The Society would like to raise awareness of the importance of this international network.  

Member of the European Alliance of Academies  

One of the ways that the Society has pursued this objective is by joining the European Alliance of Academies in 2020. The Alliance is a network dedicated to defending the concept of an open society and artist freedom in Europe. The Society also wishes to draw attention to trends and developments beyond Europe.
