Introduction

The Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences is pleased to invite you to the award of the 2023 Gilles Holst Medal to Petra de Jongh and the 2023 Bakhuis Roozeboom Medal to Shlomo Havlin. The medals are awarded every four years to researchers who make important contributions to application-oriented physics or chemistry and phase theory respectively.

  • Opening by Marileen Dogterom, President of the Academy
  • Award of the Gilles Holst Medal and the Bakhuis Roozeboom Medal; laudatio's by Ralph Wijers, chair of the jury
  • Lecture by Petra de Jongh, Professor of Catalysts and Sustainable Energy Materials at Utrecht University and a scientific staff member of the Materials Chemistry and Catalysis research group at the Debye Institute for Nanomaterials Science
  • Lecture by Shlomo Havlin, Professor of Physics at Bar-Ilan University in Israel

This event will be moderated by Ton van der Steen, Chair of Academy Domain Natural Sciences and Technology, and will be conducted in English.
